EXCHANGE TO TAIWAN
Hi…. I will tell the story about my
adventure and all of my experience in Taiwan. First I will introduce myself, my
name is yani, I’m 20 years old right now. I choose go exchange to go to Taiwan,
why because when I want to go to China no body except me when I did interview
and they gave me many reasons for rejected me. But it’s okay, actually I’m
really happy because I accepted in Taiwan. Why? Because when LC from China
rejected me I felt depressed and not confident with myself. It’s that because I
did something wrong… but when the manager from LC NTPU (the LC’s name from
Taiwan) sent me a message and she said congratulation I’m really happy…. And at
the same time I felt nervous because this will be my first trip to go to
abroad. No body with me and usually I’m really bad at memorize the name of
place because I even not remember what’s name for street in Padang =_=
After prepare everything to go to
Taiwan, finally the time for going is coming… I’m really afraid, stressful, but
I'm not show it to my parents. But my friends come to support me hehehe I’m
really happy, and little bit enjoy it and forget about my stressful. Times to
flight, is going smoothly and I relief about that but when I’m in the plan I
felt seasick >_< I don’t know why, even it’s my first time to go abroad
but it’s not my first time to go with airplane. Finally I arrived in Taiwan, Taiyuan
International airport. I really felt relief, happy, worried, afraid, and happy
again but it’s really wonderful there, big airport, different people, different
look, and different language. And you know what the first time when I arrived
at Taiwan it’s my birthday and the officer who checking my passport said happy
birthday for me, I think maybe I will not disappointed to choose Taiwan for my
first trip. Also this is trip is my birthday gift from my parents hehehehe
Thank you Dad and Mom who gave me this chance ^^.
Then
I went to the New Taipei University, the LC is LC NTPU. There I met with the
others AIESECER and one thing that I learn it even though they are friendly and
nice but they still individually. And the special thing is they gave surprise
at night (because they are study until night) they gave me surprise birthday
party, they gave me a tea cake, and some gift from the others AIESECER and it’s
really nice and touching. After that we dance together ^^. For my first day I
live with Sally, she is an AIESECER member and she at apartment alone, it’s
really cool because if I were her hmmm maybe I will be happy hahahah. Actually
I will stay at the school dormitory.
On
the next day I visit the school and move from comfort apartment into dormitory.
The dorm and the school there is really big, especially for senior high school.
The school’s name is Tsz-Shiou Private School and this is a boarding school but
not every students live at dorm also this school has junior high school and
senior high school. There they provide me food, living place and they gave me a
office. The condition in the school is really nice, the students is really
welcome and the teachers too. I have many new friends there include the student
and the teacher. I have 3 special friends from USA, they are English Teacher in
Tsz-Shiou. Most of my time I spent in my office with my 3 special friends, they
really nice asked me what will I need, you know how to go somewhere, and they
show me many things that I need to know. Sometimes we are travelling together
if they are not busy with teaching class.
Then
about my project there, I have 5 classes from Senior 2(it’s same with Grade XI
in senior high school) and I will teach
them for 3 times meeting and it’s for 3 weeks too. I teach them about Indonesia
first, I gave them general information about Indonesia, and I told them about
Padang’s culture too. And they really enthusiasts and interest with the topic, they
asked many questions about my culture, about Indonesia (because they are
thinking I came from India), also they interested with my religion because I
used veil ^^. My main project is about big issue project, in this project we
try to make the students aware with what is the hot issue that happen around
them or around the world. Actually I choose Junk Mail topics and it’s relate
with Global Warming because when I did the interview, the manager said most of
students not really understand English so because of that I choose general
topic also they learn about the topic from their subjects at school. I deliver
the topics by using ppt, video, and use chalkboard too. They really enjoy it
because they gave many ideas how to solve the problem of junk mail. Also at the
same time they learn English too. One think that I learn from them is don’t be
shy or afraid to express what you think because even though their English is
not really good or even poor but they have high motivation to say something to
express what they are thinking, their ideas and I really enjoyed when I’m
teaching the class.
My
travelling story… I didn’t visit many places in Taiwan because most of my time
I spent with the students. I join movie club there, sometimes if I didn’t have
class I will join Dale’s class (one of my friends from USA, English Teacher) or
I played basket ball with the students. I only visit some place around Sanxia.
I visit Y city mall in Taipei main station, in there they sale cheaper stuff
also they give sale because it’s end of year. I found some place that sale
Indonesia products and the price is really expensive than from Indonesia it
self (at that time I think I can sale something here with the high price too
heheheheh). I visit Ximen with some students from Tsz-Shiou senior high school.
We are having fun together, took some picture, visit book store, mall, and we
watched new Hollywood movie (Tom Cruise’s movie is Jack Reacher) also we ate
Japanese noodle. They said Ximen is like for youth people for hang out, because
I saw many couples and teenagers there. Then I visit Sanxia Old Street with my
friends from the same project with me and her come from Indonesia too. I visit
Longshan Temple with the others trainees but different project. In Longshan
temple there are so many extreme food, like snake, mouse, pig, and many thing
and I only can buy a crepes with chocolate hahahah ( I visit night market).
Then I visit Bangqio, it’s really for shopping place because many big malls and
it’s near each of malls who is really like to shopping this place is the right
place. Because they sale from the expensive one to the cheaper one. It’s depend
on you to find the right place and negotiate with the seller ( I negotiate with
the seller by using calculator heheh).
Unforgettable
memory is when New Year comes. I went to 101 building, this building is the
icon of Taiwan and in that building will have a fireworks and usually I only
watched from TV but now I can watched directly. It’s really awesome and I can’t
say with words but amazing. And the unforgettable memory is when the firework
is finished. Why? Because after that we need to wait until morning because even
we can go with MRT but there is no bus to go to my dorm. Then we wait until
morning on the street, it’s look like poor people because we don’t have any
place to sleep. We tired because the activities and waiting moment, and we
slept at bus station. But around 4.00 Am the officer asked us to move, and we
move to MRT station hahahah and you know what on the right side and my left
side is Indonesian 0_o. even though that is like poor memory but I enjoyed
every single time at that time. Because when you can have such experience like
that right?
